Samantha Kappagoda was invited to speak at the Coresight Research Artificial Intelligence (AI) Council on January 31, 2024. Samantha discussed the opportunities and risks of early adoption of AI and other emerging technologies for retail leaders, in a session moderated by Coresight Research CEO and Founder Deborah Weinswig.
Samantha Kappagoda’s Contribution at the Coresight Research AI Council
Samantha’s contribution to the Coresight Research AI Council drew on her concurrent roles as a board director overseeing AI and technology risk at Credit Suisse Funds and a Chief Data Scientist with direct operating experience evaluating AI systems across consumer and retail industries. Her perspective addressed early adoption opportunities and risks from both the governance and the technical vantage points, reinforcing that responsible AI deployment in consumer-facing industries requires the same foundations of data quality, model accountability, and oversight infrastructure that effective board governance of AI demands across all sectors.
The Coresight Research AI Council is a collaborative forum established to explore and discuss potential applications, use cases, opportunities, challenges, and implications presented by AI across consumer-focused industries such as retail, technology, healthcare, and financial services. The AI Council seeks to facilitate meaningful dialogue and drive informed decision-making regarding AI adoption and usage.
